Information on Qualifying Children Who Are Not Dependents

Use this form to give the IRS information on any qualifying child who is not your dependent.

Taxpayer can use this form if qualifying child is not taxpayer’s dependent. A qualifying child can not be considered taxpayer’s dependent if any of the following apply:

  • Taxpayer (or spouse if filing jointly) can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s 2006 return.
  • Taxpayer is a nonresident alien who is not allowed to claim exemptions for his dependents. However, taxpayer’s qualifying child must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. resident alien.
  • Taxpayer’s qualifying child is married and files a joint return for 2006.

Qualifying Child Information:
Enter the information about the qualifying child like first name, last name, date of birth, SSN, and relation of qualifying child with taxpayer.

SSN:
If child was born and died in 2006 and taxpayer do not have an SSN for the child, taxpayer can attach a copy of the child’s birth certificate instead and enter ‘Died’ in column of SSN.
